David thanks very well for putting what I was thinking in a less abrasive manner than I would have. After reading the mail it sounded to me more like a press statement than a candid discussion. Personally Im wondering what happened to the spirit of being frank and open. Anyway I guess I wasnt the target audience

Having said that and reading a little deeper into the email I grew weary. Their is promise of candid discussion, promise of MJ "sharing widsom". The problem is the format seems more about MJ sharing wisdom than any candid discussion.Pre-selected audience, pre-selected questions, moderators can shut down anyone at anytime, questions have to be submitted and then only the moderators (and let us not be naive - Safaricom PR) choose which questions MJ gets to see leave alone answer. What is this? A political campaign or a discussion with a by all accounts a strong and visionary business leader? MJ is a lion of business in Africa. He is a heavy weight. There is nothing the audience can throw at him that he probably has not faced before. Why the kiddie gloves, why the cotton wool, why sanitize the proceedings so much as to completely remove value? Why give the impression that MJ can not take some heat? OK there is a small fear that 90% of the time will be taken up by questions on Mobitela. SO BE IT. That is the big unanswered question. However, after 2 or 3 questions, I think the audience will get tired of the those questions and move on.They way this "invitation" is loaded it sounds like 2 hours of hearing questions like "What did you mean by peculiar calling habits" or "How come you run the marathon? That is so wow!" quickly followed by tweets full of LOL.If this was the bed in which the iHub had to lie in order to get MJ then it was the wrong bed to get into. The iHub, Skunkworks-KE, etc are institutions with reputations for pushing the edge, for working out answers, for breaking with the mould. This MJ talk looks like something that was planned for KICC with a PS as a moderator with selected civil servants + media as the audience and has only moved to iHub for the coolness factor that iHub brings to it.In one sentence, MJ can handle his own, he does not any of us to fight his corner in his last proper interview in Kenya.Of course, you are all free to respectfully and passionately disagree!DaudiOn 3 October 2010 09:49, Al Kags <alkags@gmail.com> wrote:
